A certain measure happened in Shanghai in 2007. There were Shanghai Special Olympic World Games in TWO THOUSAND SEVEN for people who are mentally retarded. This measure was held in Asia for the first time and it was just the second time it was held out of the measures of the USA. It was organized by the Special Olympics. A great number of masses from all the countries went to Shanghai to take part or only to look at the contest. 7, 500 special participants participated in Special Olympic World Games, consisting of the best of the 2.5 mln sportsmen who competed in 165 countries to participate in the games. They became a persuasive validation of the fact that Special Olympics is for those masses who could overtake their disabilities. Many politicians, relatives, volunteers, strangers and journalists came to that contest. All those who took part were divided into SIX types according to their disability types: 1. Amputee: Athletes with a partial or total loss. 2. Cerebral Palsy: Sportsmen with non-progressive mind damage or similar disabilities effecting muscle control or balance. 3. Intellectual Disablement: Athletes with a important impairment in mental functioning and associated limitations in adaptive conduct. 4. Wheelchair: Athletes with spinal cord wounds and other diseases which involve them to be in a wheelchair. 5. Near-blind: Sportsmen with sight disability ranging from partial vision to whole extremity cecity. 6. Les Autres: Athletes with a physical handicap that cannot be found right under any of the other 5 categories (the title for this category is the French for "the others"). Special Olympics participants of categories competed in TWENTY FIVE multiple sports: aquatics, athletics, badminton, hoops, bocci, bowling, cricket, cycling, dragon boat racing, horseman, football, golf, gymnastics, judo, kayaking, lion dancing, power-lifting, roller, skating, sailing, softball, ping-pong, team handball, tennis, volleyball, motor activities.
